Meeting Date: January 16, 2008 Attendance General: 21 Officers: 4 Special guests: none Club president Ron Magdanz called the meeting to order at 7:06pm Secretary’s report was read by Eric Johnson Motion to accept secretary’s report: Kyle Quella Second the motion: Jason Yeager Treasurer’s report was read by club treasurer, Jerry Quella Motion to accept treasures report: Jason Yeager Second the motion: Jason Plutz Old Business Ron Magdanz mentioned that the officers will be accepting truck and member dues after the meeting. People can also pay Jerry Quella for body parts after the meeting. Joe Plutz asked if a late fee would be charged to trucks starting mid season. Ron said no. new trucks starting mid season will not be charges a late fee for teching or registration. Ron brought a sheet stating the word changes in the rules. 2008 RULE CHANGES Age Rule: all participating racers will abide by the age rules of the track they are racing at. All racers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed and notarized and kept in the pit gate as well as a hold harmless agreement signed and notarized. NOTE: the current age limit for sport truck racing is 14 at WIR, 141, and DRP. Roll Cage: It is strongly recommended that there be a minimum of 2” between the top of the driver’s head to the top of the roll cage. Air Ducts: Air ducts in the tail section are allowed. They are restricted to 2 per side, 3” in diameter, to be placed in a location to resemble tail lights. They must be screened and painted. NOTE: all tail sections made during and after 2008 will have templates built in for air ducts. Hubs: Rear hubs must be rigidly mounted to the axle, with out the ability to free wheel. Engines: Any fan cooled OEM production snowmobile engine up to 508cc. All engine must start as a 508cc or less OEM motor. All engines must use OEM blocks, cylinders, heads, and OEM stroke of the engine. Note: All engines are open to internal modification provided that all components start as production parts. No external performance enhancing modifications are allowed. The only external modifications allowed are for repair. Example: hard ware replacement, welding for repair of damaged parts, ect. Todd Kostichka wanted verification that welding would be only to repair original parts only. Ron Magdanz verified. Dan Vixmer asked about moving spark plugs. Ron Magdanz said that would be considered illegal Charlie Haven mentioned that we voted last month to keep the external modification rule as read Ron Magdanz asked for a motion to change the rules to the above wording VOTE: To amend the rules with the wording Ron proposed Motion made by John Roeser Seconded by Jason Yeager Unanimous in favour Peggy Rusch brought up that the carb. rule as read would make carbs with over bored bodies and ground bells illegal. It was proposed that we add “you may over bore the body of the carb” to the carb rule. VOTE: To add “you may overbore the body of the carb” to the carb rule Motion made by Jason Yeager Seconded by Wayne Vanhandel Unanimous in favour Ron stated that we still will check carbs with the coin. NEW BUSINESS AWAY SERIES: Ron Magdanz contacted Plover, Slinger, Madison, Wausau, 141, and DRP Plover wants us for the WCS dates (May 26, and Aug 1), they also would let us run one more date. The dates they have open are May 16, June 13, and July 11. The club agreed that May 16th would be the best day to have a third date at Plover Slinger would like us on July 27th A straw vote was taken on wether or not we go to Slinger this year. 11 want to go, 4 don’t want to go The format for slinger would be the same as last year. 1 practice, 2 heats and a feature It was mentioned that if we ran on July 27th there would be a race almost every other day that week. Ron said he would call Slinger and see if they could move the date to June 22, because that’s not a very busy week. Wayne Vanhandel wants to go the night of the bikini contest Madison said they could have us run on September 19th and 20th Jason Plutz suggested Madison not be a points race because kids are back in school in September. Jerry Quella said that with out points trucks might not show up. If we go should have a good showing. Ron said he will talk to Madison before the next meeting It was decided that we wouldn’t go to Wausau because they run on Thursday nights 141 would let us run the same dates as last year. DRP would like us back for the Small Car Nationals on September 13th. The question “how many dates do we want?” was asked. Ron Magdanz said he likes 7. he feels that with less dates more trucks will show up Jason Yeager said 7 or 8, any more than that gets to cost too much Kyle Quella said that a 7 or 8 race series is too short because if you have a bad night your pretty much out of the points run. Josh Jeske said he wants to run 141 and Plover because they are good tracks Jerry Quella agreed Josh Jeske suggested not running the bud nights at WIR Ron thought the FRRC would find someone to replace us Ryan Heiting would like to have a points tally for the bud nights Rob Vandermoss said we will post the Bud Triple Crown series points on the web site for the 08 season Kip May suggested that the Bud nights be two points series. Ron agreed, he said we could get more trophies for the bud series Ron said that the away series will be finalized at the February meeting The dates that were agreed on are: Plover – 5/26 and 8/1 141 – 6/14, 7/19, and 8/16 DRP – 9/13 Slinger and Madison dates will be discussed in February after Ron contacts the tracks TECHING Jason Yeager wants to see more trucks teched. He will help if necessary Ron said we could have more than 3 tech inspectors Jason Yeager would like more randoms teched as well as more trucks teched after the feature Charlie Haven suggested having one random from the top ten in points, and one random from 11th – 20th in points. Josh Jeske wants to have a paid official do the teching Eric Johnson said if we would have paid some one $50 a night, plus pay their gate fee, we would have spent $715 at WIR last year Josh Jeske would like the FRRC to pay for a tech inspector. Josh Jeske also said a tech inspector could do random inspections all night Ron Magdanz suggested having a random inspection after qualifying Jerry Quella suggested putting an add on the internet for a tech inspector Ron Magdanz said he will post an add on the sport truck web site, as well as Midweststockcar.com. he will also talk to the FRRC at their meeting. Dan Vixmer doesn’t want people to be walking around the pits and teching during the event. He thinks they will be in the way of getting work done Steve Rusch wants every truck to be able to tech another truck Charlie Haven said that’s just like the $20 rule we have in place now Dan Vixmer thinks last years teching was fine. He thanked last years inspectors Jason Plutz wants to see more inspectors Dan Vixmer wants to have the right to choose which inspector checks your truck. Rob Vandermoss said that in the last 20 years nobody has been caught cheating, except for after a wreck. Ron asked for volunteers for tech inspectors Jason Yeager volunteered Ron will still be taking volunteers at next months meeting RADIOS Ron said we need to look at other options than the Raciver Jason Yeager wants to go to 2 way radios Jason Yeager and Brandon Kucksdorf will research radios and bring the info to the February meeting Brandon Kucksdorf will also bring info on an in car camera HELMETS Ron said that helmets must be rated SA 2005 or newer for the 2008 season SPONSORS Todd Kostichka asked if we had any sponsors for the club Ron said that Matt Stake has typed up a book that will be sent to several companies asking for sponsorship Kyle Quella suggested trying to get Gandrude to sponsor our 141 dates. Ron said we are open for ideas on 2008 sponsorship POINTS Peggy Rusch wants to know how much the payout was per point Josh Jeske wants the fact that the 22 finished higher then the 2 this year in the minutes Charlie Haven presented the points break down WIR point fund: $10,800 WIR point value: $0.78 Away point fund: $1,420 Away point value: $0.21 Eric Johnson has a sheet to show the full break down if anyone is interested DRIVERS FORUM The driver’s forum was discussed The majority of the club thought it should not be put on our website OTHER TOPICS Steve Rusch wanted to know how to make the 2 chassis comply with the rules Ron Magdanz said technically the 2 chassis is legal. He also said the concern the club has is what will happen if someone takes that design one step farther. Rob Vandermoss said future trucks must have the rear end locked down Steve Rusch wanted to know if he can sell his truck in its present form Ron Magdanz said yes as long as it is not modified Motion to adjourn made by Brandon Kucksdorf Second by Kyle Quella Unanimous approved at 9pm
